Think of this as a mini shower for your ear canal. Water is gently sprayed into the ear to soften and wash away ear wax. It's a bit like the feeling you get when water goes into your ear while swimming, but controlled and gentle. Water irrigation helps get behind the wax and gently forces it out of the ear canal. You may feel slight dizziness but this should pass quickly.
This is like using a tiny vacuum cleaner for your ear. A small, gentle suction device is used to carefully remove ear wax without touching the sensitive parts of your ear. It's quick and usually feels like a light tugging sensation as wax is pulled away. You will need to sit completely still for this procedure due to it’s more invasive nature. You may feel slight dizziness at the start but this should pass.
NOTE: If you have a previous history of ear surgery, perforated ear drum, grommett or permanent T-Tube, then water irrigation is not suitable. Micro suction ear wax removal will be advised.

Enables inspection into the ear canal and also displays on a screen which the client can hold and see exactly what the specialist can see. A copy of the video/picture can be saved and sent to the client or GP if requested.
Ear wax hardens over time and normally falls out of the ear canal before it dries out. If it hardens inside the ear canal blocking further ear wax from leaving, it can build up and create large painful blockages.

If you experience any of these symptoms, a ear health check and ear wax removal would be beneficial.
Earwax removal should always be carried out by trained specialists. You should never insert anything into your ear canal in an attempt to relieve the blockage. This can disrupt the original blockage and force wax further down into your ear canal toward your ear drum and potentially intensify the symptoms.
Oils such as pharmaceutical-grade olive oil can effectively soften and help remove earwax. Ear irrigation or micro suction works better when these are used first. Always follow the product instructions.
It is advised to carry out this process for 4-5 days before your ear wax removal appointment for the best results. In some mild cases, the blockage will soften enough to fall out on its own during this period but, you should still keep your appointment so the ear wax specialist can inspect your ears and ensure no further problems occur.
